Adinkra symbols are found among the Akan people of Ghana, West Africa. Adinkra cloth was worn as a sign of mourning, but present day you can find the Adinkra symbols on almost anything cloth, earrings, bags, etc. Each symbol has a meaning or proverb associated to it, how to respect the world, yourself and others the Akan way of life.
